Into My Depths

My Take on the "Inside My World" Jam Theme:

    This imaginary game is one where the player is a young woman -  staring out to the sea. She goes into the water and descends into the inner space of her childhood memories - an interpretation of the theme's artwork of a young girl with her mother. There, she takes in both the wonder and sadness that is contained deep within herself and gets closer in touch with herself. At the end, she rises back to the surface, understanding that her good memories can be her light to dispel her own darkness.

    So, I set out to create a soundtrack that was like descending into the ocean of one's mind - depths with exotic, strange, and wonderful things - along with one's own darkness. Powered entirely by a FM Synth for an otherworldly sound, I focused on trying to tell a story within about 5 tracks; a title theme, a first theme, a second theme, a catharsis, and an ending.

    Immediately after getting progress on the title theme, I knew I had to carry everything through to the end. What wonderful memories did our protagonist find down there, and what did she take back with her?

Track 1 - Go Into The Sea

You stare out to the sea of your own experience, wading deeper in until you begin to sink into your inner depths.

Track 2 - Deep Memories

Deep within your own inner world of thought - you explore yourself, touching opalescent bubbles of memory.

Track 3 - Sadness

You realize it is dark down here, and with all of the interesting memories, you encounter the deep sadness that has made up so much of this place.

Track 4 - Light From The Surface

Sensing something from far above in this watery darkness, you look upwards and see the light from the surface - faint at first, but illuminating the beauty around you once again. Then, you begin to rise upwards - towards the light.

Track 5 - My Inner Beauty

Back in the world above, you feel complete, refreshed, and resolved to bring your inner world to the outer one - your inner world is your inner beauty.
