The Crown of Narsine - Early Development


Time to explain some of the Early Development for this game and where it's headed.

Currently, The Crown of Narsine is being created alongside Isle of Power, which means I AM doing double duty, but I'm also essentially remaking The Opal of Narsine, so it's not as hard. Despite this, there will be a lot of work put into this to improve the scenario and make this game as good and novel an experience as possible. There's a lot I didn't get to do in the original game due to the limitations of TWINE and SugarCube, and Ren'Py is a better place to try to realize The Vision.

So far, the flurry of recent work: 

  • Data, Mechanics, Gameplay, and General Programming stuff.
  • Scenario Planning - much expanded and reconfigured.
  • Character Specifications and content planning.
  • Porting a lot of text from The Opal of Narsine.
  • Random Scene Planning.

I am taking my time with this game, as I'm planning a big expansion of the scope of the game and I want this to feel dramatic and compelling.

Roadmap: 

Early Access Prototype (Ready when it's ready to be torn apart):

  • Able to recruit the the first tier of Retainers. (Kayna, Farnor, Irebyn)
  • Able to purchase and play out the first tier of upgrades.
  • Able to use some of the basic systems (Prestige, Noble Rank) up to a point.
  • Able to complete Chapter 1 Main Quest, with some kind of Free Play after.

This will become the Release-Day demo. It may be updated if necessary. 

Final Features and Stuffs:

  • 8-10 Retainers.
  • 5-10 Chapters of Content (depending if the Scenario needs more separation)
  • Narsine is the focus! She will be a constant presence and focus of the story and game.
  • Strategy and Simulation.
  • Guided Randomized Events.
  • Beware enemies and rivals!
  • Upgrades and Investments.

While it's not much in the amount of bulletpoints, I want this to have a lot of variety and I am still considering a few other features like combat. (You're not a fighter...)
